What is different about Callvine conference calls?
Callvine allows you to register and host conference calls directly from your iPhone - and call using HD Voice. You can select participants and choose to start a conference call immediately or at a scheduled time. Callvine gives you a choice of connections - either using HD Voice over WiFi from the Callvine app or by dialing into a standard dial-in number from any phone. Callvine will provide a single unique reservationless Conference ID when you register and you may add up to four additional Conference ID's and assign names to each one. This can be useful to provide unique ID's for different employees, departments or clients.
Does everyone on the call need to have the app?
Not at all - anyone can dial into the provided dial-in number and Conference ID from any phone. The Callvine app makes it easy to invite anyone from your Address Book or to add contacts on the fly.
However, to conference in true HD Voice, users must use the Callvine app or connect conference and desktop VoIP phones to Callvine's IP address (sip:callvine@sip.callvine.com using G722). Callvine conference calls will use the best quality of sound available for each caller on the conference.
What is HD Voice?
HD Voice provides double the frequency range and much improved audio quality over standard mobile calls, providing better clarity and more efficient phone meetings. At this time, we are only recommending HD Voice be used over WiFi, although it works over 3G with unpredictable results. HD Voice also eliminates any use of mobile minutes or international dialing charges, but when using HD Voice on 3G, it will add to the amount of data used under your mobile data plan (approximately 20 megabytes per hour of talking time).
Can I make HD Voice calls from an iPod Touch or iPad?
Yes! The Callvine app just needs a WiFi Internet connection to connect iPad and iPod Touch devices (no cell plan required). The app has not yet been optimized to the large screen of the iPad, but the iPad is very effective as a speakerphone with HD Voice quality.

How do I use my iOS device to make a Conference Call or send a Group Text?
Just tap the center hand and it will allow you to join, schedule or start a new conference or send a group text. If you have already placed a call, you may select the previous call at the History tab and choose to call again, send a message or email, duplicate a scheduled call or create a new group.
How do I know who is on a call?
Once you join a conference from your mobile, you will automatically be presented with the call control dashboard. The dashboard shows the participants of a call as well as providing various call controls such as muting or starting to record the call. If you dial-in by a mobile connection or from another phone, you may need to go back to the app and select the conference from the Conferences Tab to view the dashboard . (NOTE: Verizon and Sprint users may not be able to use the dashboard when talking through the cellular voice connection unless the phone is connected via WiFi).
What if I want to add someone to a conference while it's going on?
You may tap the "+" in the lower right corner of the dashboard to bring up your contacts and select someone you would like to invite. If the caller is not in your address book, you may select the "+" at the upper right of the contacts list to add a new contact. Once the contact is selected, the app will send a push notification if the contact is a registered Callvine user or if not, the app will prepare a text message with the conference dial-in information to send to the contact.
Can I mute other callers?
As host, you can mute individual callers, place them on hold, or drop them from the conference. The host can also choose to mute everyone on the conference at once.
What if I want to set up a conference immediately?
You can use the dial-in number and any of your Conference IDs at any time without reserving it. To invite others to a new call, you can choose to start a Quick Connect call from the center hand icon and Callvine users will receive a push notification while others receive emails, texts or both.
If I'm participating in a Callvine conference and my iPhone battery dies, can I reconnect to the conference from another phone?
Yes, you can rejoin the conference using another phone, as long as you know the access number and conference ID. This will have been emailed to you for a scheduled call.
Free Service
How many people can I invite to my Callvine conference call?
Up to 10 at the moment using the free service. We will shortly be providing upgrades to increase the number of callers.
How am I charged?
There's no charge for the app, available for free in the iTunes app store, and usage is free for up to four hours per month. Unlimited plans will be available shortly later this quarter (Q1 2012).
Am I charged for mobile minutes on my phone bill for calls I make through Callvine?
You are not charged for mobile minutes if you use the Callvine app with HD Voice on a WiFi connection. You may also use HD Voice on a 3G connection, but the connection quality varies greatly on 3G and it will add slightly to the amount of data used on your data plan. An HD Voice connection consumes approximately 20 megabytes per hour of connection time.
Do I need the Callvine app to use the Callvine conferencing service?
You need the Callvine app on an iOS device to initially register your account, but once you have an account the Callvine app isn't required for conferencing. You can create and control conferences on the Callvine web site, and dial in from any phone. Your login password will be emailed to you on after you register from an iOS device.
General Questions
What about International Conferencing - can people in other countries join my conference?
Yes, if they use the Callvine app with HD Voice on a WiFi connection, they can avoid international long distance charges entirely. To participate by phone, they must currently dial a U.S. number and will be responsible for phone charges. Callvine plans to offer international dial-in numbers in many countries later this year and to expand coverage to international iTunes stores.
Can I access my account from the web?
When you first register from an iOS device, you will receive an email with your web password. This password allows you to log in and create and manage conferences from the Callvine web site. Conferences created on the web site can be accessed and controlled by the Callvine app, and vice versa. However, you won't be able to access your phone's address book from the web site.
